    Hi to all.

I sometimes go to this website called smart-IP.net/en/ which detects computer IP addresses, and it says my computer IP (not internet IP) has been said to be located in Birmingham UK but im actually using my HP notebook it in Aberdeen UK.

It showed me the exact location on the map (which is powered by Google maps) and it has got it completely wrong and when i checked it to see if its in any of their spam databases, it says its located in 2 of them.

I do, however, have 2 anti-virus programs installed. Panda Cloud Anti-Virus (without firewall) and McAfee Internet Security 2011 (with firewall). And for some wierd reason, Panda Cloud Anti-Virus finds and scans more files (Panda Cloud Anti-Virus scans 1000000 approx.) than McAfee does (McAfee scans 350000 approx.). But that doesn't worry me at the moment.

So could it be either that my HP notebook has been already used somewhere else or could it be a hack of some sort or is it something else?

I would very much appreciate it if I could get a reply A.S.A.P.

    Thank you.

    Matt

There is no malware in your machine. Different AV's may or may not scan certain areas of your machine (eg. registry entries)

That address is where your ISP's local server is located. IP address alone cant give you the exact location of where you are, it isnt GPS.

I tried it myself and the location is quite off.

When you go on the internet you use an IP address the IPS owns and lease to you... what it telling you is the local of the IP address owner, the ISP, on the other side of the link from you

If you want to you can use an IP adress that will report you on the other side of the world from you....(check out "IronKey")
