It arrived yesterday in the HP box shipped from China. There was no damage to the box or anything. I took it out of the box and of course the shiny black attracts your eyes first. It is a very good looking laptop I must say, great for the average college student. I bought this for college and was looking for something that looked attractive and light-weight, which this machine provides both! I have a AUO screen, it is quite bright, but I have not seen a NEC/SEC screen so I can't really tell the difference though supposedly SEC is the dimmest of them all. Currently I am burning the Recovery Discs and then i'm going to install my other stick of ram. I'm still contemplating if I want to do a fresh install, as I've read from various posts that with a fresh xp install comes some QuickPlay problems and I Like the QP buttons  This is just a brief overview, I hope to do a full review asap.

Yes I paid around 1,207.99 + 106.30 (tax) for a total of 1,314.29. Shipping was free. If you count in the Memory I bought from newegg it'd be around 1,390.

I don't know what you guys are talking about.

My dv2037 came with virtually no bloatware. When I first booted mine, it had only like 40 processes running. I uninstalled the very little bloatware on the machine, and now I only have 33 processes running on startup.

If you wanna see massive, and I mean massive bloatware, then buy a Dell. When I bought my Dell back in April.....on the first bootup, it had 89 processes running!!! Can you believe that? I've never seen anything like that in my life!

To be completely honest, from all the computers I've owned in my life, the HP ones have always had the least bloatware.

40 is alot, 89 is just insane, my dv2000t came with alot of bloatware as well, enough to be considered alot. after reformatting and optimizing it, mine boots up with 21 processes and boots up from shutoff into windows fully loaded and ready in 40 seconds :)

How long of battery life are you able to get on the dv2000t with the 6 cell when you're just doing common tasks like browseing the web? I just got a new Dell E1505 today that i'm trying out but i'll have a dv2000t in a few days to look at as well. I would like to get an Asus W3J but i'm not sure i'm going to pay about $1800 for one when laptops like these can be had for under 1k.

I wish I got the DV2000T with the cool black LCD back with the design in it.
I realize why the DV1000T was quick off the market with the core duo notebooks......Core Duo owners want a better GPU :).
You paid more than I did for sure. Your notebook had to of been in the $1300-1400 right?
I have not seen the W3J, but that Asus model looks tight. You can get an optional $300 screen that does 180 degree viewing angle in direct sunlight supposedly.
Only reason I would buy it....Asus generally doesn't suck when it comes to being innovative.

    But I have to say...
    I just did your dv2000t on HP.com. T2500 / 1GB / IMPRINT + CAM/ 3945 a/b/g/ bluetooth / remote control / lightscribe / 80gb hard drive / 7200 Nvidia / remote control / + extra 6 cell battery.
You could have it all for $1313 shipped after rebates.
    W3J is $1499 base I think?
