hi guys,
is it really if i lost the HP Recovery Partions and Disk i will lose my grantee for my laptop?????
plz i need someboady to confirm that bcz i have tried o re install the windows and got some troubles in creating these disks and the partion is gone
-------------------
the thing is i have tried to create 2 DVDs but while creating them it reaches to 70 in the 1st disk and then it is gets a faluire, 2 times do this thats why i have moved to install the windows without creating the images (i said iw ill do them later) but after i have installed it using the dv2000t installation guide and tried to install the quick play software the recovery partion was hided and when i saw the partions from the windows xp installion i found it become a RAW partion, so i deleted it and combind it with the unpartioned spaces, and still getting errors when i am tring to install the quick play
i am doing a 4th time installation for the windows now, every time i am tring to install the quick play thing the windows craches
the windows i am installing is win xp pro. sp1 it was a win xp home by the maunfturer but i need xp pro. as a developer for some stuff like the IIS and so on
and one last question
is there a tool that i can create this partion again with it??????????????????

i dunno about the warranty, but what excatly is wrong when you try to reinstall windows? i suggest reading the dv2000t reinstall guide and see if that helps you install windows at least. if you need drivers, find someone w/ ur same computer and both of u download DriverGenius which will backup all the drivers on the computer. once u get windows up, u can install thoose drivers (u can make an exe file) w/ the driver genius program i think.
also, what kind of troubles did u have w/ the disks?
hope this helps a little... -
I think your 90day software warranty wil be void. As for the 1yr hardware warranty, it shouldnt be but if the problem is caused by your installation of XP Pro, then they wont support it.
If you havent burned the recovery disc and lost the restore partition, then either borrow some recovery discs or you can order them from HP. As for your problems with installing Quickplay. It happens quite oten. I couldnt get it working with a clean installation of XP Home...However some people have been sucessful in keeping quickplay and still have a fresh copy of XP. I have no idea why it worked for others and didnt for me.
My dv2000t grantee
