My laptop arrived a few days early, quite happy with it so far. I'm in the process of reformatting the drive and loading Vista Ultimate (my own disk). Quick question -- Given Windows Update handles a number of driver updates, do I necessarily need the HP driver files from HP's site, or can I let Windows manage the updates (once I install HP's wireless card drivers, of course)?

For drivers I suggest going to the HP site and installing them manually. WU is ok for security updates and other MS stuff. Don't use it for installing 3rd party drivers. This works best IMO and from experience its how I got my HP to work like a top.

WU tends to download the wrong drivers and install them. It might not even find all the drivers.

I suggest you get it directly from your HP driver page and install them manually.
