I've got one of the dv8000's with the twitchy touchpad and shift-locking keyboard lemons, and it's just over a year old. The mouse started flickering around the screen yet again the other night (without my hand even anywhere near it), so i get mad after the usual rubbing of the pad didn't fix it... so i hit it. Not all that hard, just outta anger, you know.

Now the touchpad is dead. Not even a flicker of movement. The buttons still work, but everything else is dead. System still reports it "operating normally"

Is there a way to replace the pad, either myself or somewhere like Geek Squad? And no, i don't want to send it back to HP (besides all the horror-stories about their customer support) because my warranty ran out 2 days before it broke -_-
