My dv8t seems to be in IDE mode. How do I put it in AHCI?

Yesterday, I installed a Crucial M4 SSD in my dv8t. However, I noticed practically no performance improvement over the hybrid Momentus XT that was in it. I think I may have found out the reason why.

I wanted to upgrade the firmware in the SSD, but to do so, as per the guide, I needed to set the mode temporarily to IDE. Indeed, the SSD is visible to the update program only in IDE mode. I did the update this morning and it worked. That means the computer was already in IDE mode!

Is there a way to definitely find out which mode it's in? If it's IDE, how do I change it to AHCI?

Could you take a screenshot of AS SSD benchmark? It should tell you if the SSD is aligned and also what driver is being used.

I did a clean install on the brand new unformatted SSD. I would think that Windows 7 took care of the alignment?
As for the driver, all it says is that it's a Microsoft driver.
    AS SSD benchmark coming up.

iaStor should mean that you are in AHCI mode as far as I know.

Are these good numbers for an SSD, especially the 4K ones?

I believe the M4 is suppose to be getting roughly twice those numbers
