My laptop is HP dv9700 with window vista home edition

I never use the dvd rom since I bought (never burn a cd/ dvd or read a dvd).

But, now i wanna to install a game and its format is DVD, but the dvd rom doesn't take it. I try with cd and it works.

I don't want to buy a new one. Please help me!

Try reading/playing another DVD (such as a movie) and let us know what happens. Possibly your DVD drive just doesn't like that particular DVD.
