I have had this dv9500 HP laptop for over a year, and until now have never experience a noisy fan problem. It sounds like it is grinding on something, i looked in there and saw a hair in the vent and thought that was the problem, but I was about to get it out yet the noise persists. Is this a common problem? Is there anyway to alleviate it?

I would try to use a can of compressed air to blow out the entire vent/fan system. If that doesn't work, then you may need to replace the fan.

I just did a CPU upgrade on this after 8 months usage (which is also a dv9500 series) and there was a bit of build up around the fan/vent area, which was no surprise knowing how the fans on heatsink/graphics cards do get choked up easily.

You'd think an inspection panel would be a must on any laptop so to service the fan assembly, knowing of the need to reduce heat on a machine for its longevity, but I guess you'd only do that if you cared or wanted this longevity to occur?
