Hello! My borther purchased a Compaq V3000t about 9 months ago, it is really good, so I decided to buy one because my old Vaio S270b was a little bit old. I bought the Compaq V3000z with the AMD TL-50 Processor. Now I have some questions about it because Im not used to AMD and, specially, with the nVidia integrated graphics.
1.- Can the AMD Turion X2 be Undervolted? With my Pentium M Dothan was fairly easy to do it, but with AMD and using Rmclock, well, I dont understand nothing!!and it seems that the AMD has only two "steps"?? 800mhz and 1.6GHZ!??? Why cant be like the Pentium and have various steps!
2.-The computers gets hot! The HD is around 50°C, the cores of the CPU aroun 45-50° but the GPU is aroun 70°C when idle, is that normal?
3.-Is there a way to decrease the 256mb for the video card? I have 1gig of ram and I dont want that the video card have 256mb of it! In the Bios I cant change anything![]()
4.-The video card drivers can be updated? I updated from laptopvideo2go, but nothing changed, I followed the instructions and well I have the same driver!
5.-Is there a utility to calibrate the battery? because I downloaded the HP battery check and it keeps saying that I should calibrate the battery, and I alredy did it like 3 times ¬¬
6.-Do you know why the Card Reader cant read my card? I put a 1gig SD card and it appears on my computer, but I double click on it and it doesnt open the contents of the card. I tried with a xD card (sooo difficult to fit and enter in the card reader) and it is detected but it doesnt show anything when I double click on it. I put a MMC and it can be opened and everything else.
Im really sorry for all this questions, but im really frustrated, I tought the AMD model of this computer should be better or equal as the Intel, but I think I might be wrong.
Thank you and sorry for my english![]()

Dag! I was never happy with that processor when i had my dv2000, It gets hot!. I mean to the point of not wanting to keep it in my lap.. I don't know why that is, but I guess it's a AMD thing.
Sold it to my g/f and she says the same thing. I have a dv6000us, with c2d, with not heat issues...
just make sure you use a book or something when it's in you lap so it can cool down amply.
as for the card reader, update the driver on the manufactuer site. -
Hey miner thanks for all the responses
, I will research more about Rmclock and I hope I cant get to work xD. About the temp in videocard when Im plugged to the AC it is set to Max Performance (under Nvidia Powermizer) and when im in batt it is set to Max Energy saver (or something like that, the menu is not in english hehe). I have a cooler lap I guess I'll have to use it
dbest1a, yeah I tought AMD resolved the heat issues, but Im missing my old Pentium M where there almost no heat
Thanks for all the advises -

The cooling fan doesn't even kick in until the CPU hits at least 55C and shuts down at 50C (unless they changed it?), so if you're getting less than 50C that's outstanding. The HD and GPU temps are mostly a function of how often the CPU fan runs, so I kinda wish HP would allow us to set a lower temperature for the fan to start at. NVIDIA GPUs generally run hot but they're designed to handle it. The HD temp is somewhat troubling and common across both AMD and Intel HP notebooks.
My first experience with a Compaq and AMD
