It is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. I can't wait. Here are my specs.

Compaq Presario V2000Z customizable Notebook PC

    – $50 OFF!! Windows(R) XP Professional for $29.99!!
    – AMD Turion(TM) 64 ML-37 (2.0GHz/1MB L2 Cache)
    – FREE Upgrade to 14.0 WXGA BrightView Widescreen!!
    – ATI RADEON(R) XPRESS 200M
    – 512MB DDR SDRAM (2x256MB)
    – 40 GB 4200 RPM Hard Drive
    – 8X DVD Drive
    – 54g(TM) 802.11b/g WLAN w/ 125HSM/SpeedBooster(TM)
    – 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    – Microsoft(R) Works/Money

Thanks to everyone here, you guys have a wealth of knowledge. I plan on spending lots of time on this board in the future. My only regrets are not getting the productivity ports, and paying extra for 2x256 since I already ordered 2x512 from newegg.com.

Instead of getting a 2.0GHz, you should have gotten a 1.8GHz, and a 5400 RPM hard-drive. Performance is affected by RAM, Hard-drive, and then the CPU.... just my 2/100 dollar..

If you decide to do this, you can call Compaq back and reorder. I think I did a total of three orders when I ordered mine. I kept changing my mind about stuff. It was very frustrating trying to decide what to get.

you'll love this. the screen resolution could be higher (other systems with 15 -> 15.4 screens do have higher res), but with the 14in screen you can't complain. you'll enjoy. my system arrived Monday and is in my sig :)

i am a brightview downer... i really don't like the over reflectiveness (screws you in bright light, angles, outside) and drains battery. that'd be my biggest complaint. I'm glad I ordered mine without (I had to wait 3 weeks because of this, heh). still cool system

Excellent! After reading the posts on this forum, I also decided to take the Compaq plunge. I ordered almost the same config today.. Can't wait to get my hands on it!!!

How much did your's come out to? I was able to get another $40 knocked off the base price using the APP discount since I work at a uni..

Brightview is just a coating, not anything powered. It won't drain the battery any more than a matte panel set to the same brightness.
It's a personal preference thing - anybody trying to decide should really go to a brick-and-mortar store and look at some screens before making a decision.

I did change my mind once and re-ordered, but it is going to arrive at my house tomorrow so I'm not gonna change my mind now :) I plan on upgrading the drive with a WD from newegg.com and putting the original drive in an enclosure. I could use the extra drive so it will work out for me in the end.

it's not a coating, it's a glass-like covering. and i think the screen itself is brighter

No, and I left a note on my door asking Fedex to give it to my neighbor and they did. So it's sitting in my neighbors living room until my wife gets home :)
