Well ive got an issue with my new dv9000, i wanted to try the integrated webcam that comes on it and well, there isn't any program or icon that says its even on the computer. It is on the top of my monitor, but the computer dosn't read it. I talked to tech support for about an hour today, its not listed in my computer and if i go to device manager is not listed anywhere under any option. I downloaded all the drivers and then the webcam and intel chipset drivers and still didn't change anything. I then pressed F11 when the system was booting up and restored the whole system but it still didn't do anything. Has this been a problem with anyone else? I really dont want to send it back in and have the possibility that it comes back with an even worse problem. Is the webcam worth going threw all of this or should i just live without it?

Do you have the camera showing in My Computer? Try Skype and see if it detects it.

The camera sucks. There is no software to adjust the settings to lighten it up. The mics that is also built in sucks as well. They arent sensitive enough to pick up sound very well. Its not going to make me return mine cause I have a logitech headset and cam but still. Youd think it would work better than it does.

Hi I had a similar problem with my DV9000, but had to return it back to HP in order for them to re-install a new webcam, as the one that I had was faulty. I received the laptop back after about 1month and it was working fine. :)

There's another thread here describing the Acer Crystal Eye webcam drivers that enable the camera. (I know because I used them on my dv9410us laptop months ago.) I'll find it for you and provide a link here. (. . . time passes . . .) Google found it for me :D Here's the link
