Hey guys, I hadn't tried using my hp remote control since I clean installed vista in my laptop. I was trying to watch a movie using Quick play and there I noticed the remote control was not working, I could even turned off my laptop with it. Now it does nothing.

I wonder if there is any driver for it, or how could I chek that the IrDa is on? I downloaded the latest driver for quickplay but it still won't work.

Thanx for any advice or help..

    1) check the battery is installed correctly. alot of people put it in the wrong way

    2) the IRDA driver is bundled with the quicklaunch button driver

Please someone. If there is somebody here that has done the Clean install and have managed to get their remote control to work, share with me what you did and what drivers you installed.

As Flipfire said, the Quicklaunch software should re-enable your remote. I have a DV9260 Pavilion and this worked for me, but it might be different for the dv9500 series. Best to check with those that performed a clean install on the dv9500.

check the battery isnt dead, usually the prolonged heat in the express card slot kills it.

The volume keys should work regardless of drivers

You might be right flipfire, I'll change the battery and see what happens. I already posted this question at the Clean install forum, but haven't seen no response yet.

My dv2000z came with xp media center when I bought it after installing Vista I never experienced any problems with the remote control since I installed the Quick&play drivers.

flipfire is right the battery dies because of the heat, since hp dvxxx have the heat problem on the left side plam rest. My battery is dead at the moment and I need to get a replacement and it should work.

So try getting a new battery, and that will solve your problem.

emedici- to check if your remote is in working condition, turn on the web camera and point your remote toward it. As you will press buttons on your remote you will be able to see the flashing blue light on your screen. If you can't see it then I think battery needs to be replaced. If you any questions feel free to ask.
