I bought a DV2315nr sometime in June and I was pretty pleased with it, I always wished it had internal bluetooth and did countless hours of research trying to figure out how to get the components and get them installed, I even went so far as to attempt to take apart my laptop to see how difficult it would be. I always wished it had a better processor (AMD) and was always miffed by the lack of responsiveness in the Vista program shuffle function, it always seemed a hair too slow. Minor issues I know, but they always bugged me. Anyway after a few attempts to sell it I just gave up and used it. A month or so later I was visiting home from college and it started heating up, heating up like you would not believe. Sometimes I kept the laptop on overnight and my mom would come in in the morning and move it, she would then tell me how burning hot it was. It kept getting hotter and hotter, I could not put it anywhere near my skin, it would simply burn me. I just bit my lap and cursed out AMD in silence. Sometime in later September/early October, I was in the airport and I turned it on and it started booting into Vista. Then suddenly, it just turned off. I tried everything to get it to boot all to no avail. Eventually, I found out that the motherboard had died, probably due to the insane heat that was probably due to some internal problem.

I then sent it into HP, at all started good enough. They told me 5 business days and I would have it back, that did not happen. I finally figured out where the status update was on their site and the expected delivery date was the 25th, which I was a little angry about but I was willing to deal with it. I noticed they had my name spelled wrong as well as a wrong address, an address I had called them specifically to change. After about three chat conversations and two phone conversations, they got it fixed.

The state of November came and went, and they were still not able to tell me when I would get it back. I was told I would have a case manager call me either on the first Friday/Saturday, but I never got that call. A few days afterwards I called and I got Lea on the other end. She apologized and promised that she and a case manager would have a three-way :D with me in a day or two, I obviously agreed and thanked her. She was the first helpful representative. To my astonishment, the next day I got a call from Lea, and after connecting me to another gentleman, I was connected to Brenna, my case manager. She looked into my case and she checked the ETA of the replacement parts. Turns out the ETA had already past and she said that she could not tell me when they would be in because the time HP was told they would be in had already past. So she looked to see if she could send me the same laptop as mine but thankfully they didn't have any with similar specs. So she then asked me if I would be willing to customize one, I agreed.

The expected delivery date is the 16th of this month.

    Old Specs:
    DV2315nr
    Turion X2 1.6ghz
1gb DDR2 (I upgraded it to 2gb at Best Buy)
    160gb Hard drive
    Nvidia 6150 graphics
    Webcam+Microphone
    Broadcom B/G wireless
8x DVD writer (advertised lightscribe, but drive didn't have the lightscribe logo)

    New Specs:
    DV2500CTO
    Intel T72500 2.0ghz!!!
    2GB DDR2 memory
250GB Hard Drive (I read these are beasts!!!!)
    Nvidia 8400GS M
    Webcam+Microphone+Fingerprint reader
    Intel 4965AGN wireless + Bluetooth
    Extended life 6 Cell battery
    HP DVD Recovery discs
    1 Pair Headphones

I paid $750 for my laptop from BestBuy, on sale from $900.
This laptop customized is $1,266. :D

I hated HP for about a month or so, even more so after literally hours upon hours with their reps, but Brenna made it all better baby!!!

Now, if you wouldn't mind, some questions:

    1. The clean install guide that is a sticky on the main page of the HP threads, will that work with my laptop? I heard there are Quickplay quirks and you have to install it in a special way? This guide says nothing about it. Have those quirks been ironed out? Can you just install it like any other software now?

    2. Will my recovery DVDs include the SWsetup folder? I plan on doing a clean install on my baby, can I just get it and go or do I have to backup the SWsetup folder?

    Thanks for reading!

    1. You will need to acquire the Windows Anytime Upgrade DVD which is no longer included with hp notebooks (in other words, you will have to buy it (its only like $5.99))
    2. You still have to burn a copy of the SwSetup folder

yeah all the bashing of HP, when you get up to the high lvl case managers, they treat you well. Im using a dv9500t that was a replacement for my zd8000, which was a replacement for my zd7000. thats 2 replacements in a span of 3 yrs, i had extended warranty for the zd7k, 8k and 9500t they offered me ADP 3 yrs. Was not charged a cent, and each notebook was steps ahead of predecessors.
