So i've never added a HDD to a notebook before and have done desktops hundreds of times...My two questions are, which hdd base to start with and where do I get the SATA HDD adapter to connect the HDD to the other HDD bay?

    Thanks!

I'm guessing just goto newegg.com and search under "Computer Hardware > Hard Drives > Laptop Hard Drives"???

If you're adding a drive to the second bay in the dv9000 you will need a connecting kit like this

(Donno the seller just using as referance))
HDD Hard Drive Caddy Kit for Compaq DV6000 DV9000 V6000 | eBay

It will include a cage and the SATA HDD Adaptor that you need. Other then that, any SATA 2.5 Inch HDD will work. I personally would recommend the Seagate Momentus XT, it has a 4GB Solid State drive inside it that it uses to increase the speed of the drive.
