    Hi!
My WLAN 802.11g connection died yesterday when I was at the university and even after uninstalling and updating the drivers it's not waking up. :(

I have a D-Link DWA-140 USB adapter which work quite well still with 802.11n (though there are some trouble to get a connection when first starting up the laptop) but the "g" part of the wireless card seems completely dead.

I have looked at the bottom of the laptop and got a clue where the WLAN card could be because of the symbols, but I need to know what card I should get to replace the faulty one? Because I have to replace it right?

    My Hp laptop is:
HP Pavilion dv5-1264eo Entertainment Notebook PC (NG169EA)
    Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN
    Product Specifications: LINK

    Thanks for any help! :)

I'm going to bump this and ask another question:

Can anyone tell me what WLAN card with 802.11n compatibility that will work with my dv5-1264eo and d-link DIR-655 router?

    Thanks

It is possible that the wire connecting the card to the antenna just disconnected... are you just getting no signal, or what? If it is definitely dead, you probably have to get the actual part from HP because they use a whitelist of hardware that is allowed to work on a given machine.

Intel 5100 and Broadcom 4322 wifi card is what was offered with the DV5 series. You can only use what HP offered as HP has a whitelist in the BIOS which prevents you from using cards not on the approved whitelist.

List of wifi-N cards the were sold configured with the Intel based DV5 with part numbers:

    Intel Wi-Fi Link 5100 802.11a/b/g/n
    480985-001

    Broadcom 4322 802.11a/b/g/n
