Hey guys, using a zv6000 with the AMD newcastle processor.

    1. Added pc3200 512mb of Crucial
    2. Get Blue Screen- A PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED- etc
    3. Crucial tech says download new ATI drivers
    4. loaded Catalyst 6.4
    5. I guess it loaded ok

(Got some wierd pop-ups during Catalyst install -- "Severe: Zero Display Service Error" & "No Display Service"??????????)

    6. Still getting Blue Screen tried Safe Mode/ Last Config etc gives me either:
    "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" or "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NOW_PAGE"

I'm pretty sure it's got a pc2700 under the keyboard - should I take that out and retry? I 'm pretty confused so thanks for any ideas!

You might have purchased a bad stick of ram. Try switching the sticks around, taking one in and out then repeat with the other.

Time to burn and boot MemTest86+. It does sound like either bad RAM or the RAM is incompatible with the existing HP-supplied SODIMM.

As Brian said, run Memstest 86+; run it for a couple of hours at least.

    UPDATE**********************

Finally pulled sometime to get the keyboard off (since this was my first time -fear was putting it off) and remove the pc2700 stick

The Crucial 3200 is running smooth now. Thanks for the Memorytest link - I may run that later just to see how it works.

Thank you wisemen for taking the time to help a rookie out.

All this time all I had to do was remove that stick of 2700. I feel SOOOO incredibly smart.

Heh. Memory problems are a royal pain to troubleshoot.

You should definitely run MemTest86+ on your new memory, just to be sure. Odds are you just had an incompatibility issue between the two brands of memory though.
