    Hello folks.

Would this drive work in my laptop? (as in subject)

Also as every knows this laptop gets HOT. ideas on cooling it down other than a pad?

One last thing. My battery lasts about 30 mins after it says 0% in windows does this in XP and windows 7 (pre beta)

    To get cooler:

1 - Use Powerplay in CCC to lower the GPU speed when you don't need it.
2 - Undervolt the CPU with software like NHC or RMClock.
3 - Make sure there's no dust in the heatsink, otherwise open it up (if you dare) and clean it.

All three helps a lot to make the laptop quieter and cooler. Use google for more info.

Just curious, what are your temps (idling and under load)? On my nw8440 (Workstation nc8430), my CPU is in the low to mid 50C degrees range when idling, and I've seen it goes as high as 87C under load (It's more like 82-85C under load, though).
NOTE: I used HWMonitor to retrieve the temperatures.

    Hello,

Yes mine is much the same. but i have a T7400 cpu in mine. i see from your sig that you have the T2600. i also have the verant that has the x1600 gfx card.

I usually set it ontop of a chopping board to let more air though. I've also tried putting better thermal paste on. this made a small difference (about 2-3 degrees)

ideas on the hard drive :( the 7200rpm hitachi is slow and noisey and small (100gb) :(

I had (my gf has it now xD) a nc8430 and the temps were these also... 50C idling and 75C while playing.. Core Duo T2400

on my 8730w, I get 32C right now, and it goes up to 50C when playing games like Assassin's Creed

Oh and with intensive CPU program only, it goes to 40-45C :p

For the SATA drive, I think the SATA II is retrocompatible with SATA.
