As far as I can see from the link, there is nothing wrong with this one. If it suits you, just get it. 1300 euro is just above 1600 USD, so the price seems fair to me.

It's a normal price. It's cheaper than in France and Germany because here in Switzerland we have a low VAT tax (7.65%) compared to Europe where it ranges from 20 to 35%. That makes the difference.

Also those prices are promotional and valid between Oct 9 to Nov 5th.

Finally, I called HP Switzerland to get some information about the 9420 and they told me that they would have new laptops in 3 weeks... probably just after the end of the promotion?

On my side, I'm waiting to see what this new line of laptops will be, any successor to the 8430/8440? Also I wait until January to have it come with Windows Vista instead of XP.

Hope this info is useful :)

Yep, it's a 1-year warranty model. Other than that, it's pretty neato.

I have no clue what HP pricing policy is....

    Germany <2000 Euros
    Switzerland 1400 Euros
    Netherlands 1600 Euros
    Belgium 1400 Euros

I don't believe that this is only VAT related. Strange. Nevermind.

Well, you still can order it abroad, but you won't have a Swiss French/German keyboard if this is important to you. And if you want to return it, you'll have to deal with VAT refunds, etc.

is it possible to do online order in swiss and ship it to other EU country?
and what keyboard type is in swiss - is it like french or german with keys swapped, or is it normal US keyboard layout?

(As switzerland is tri-langual, you should be able to get it in german, french or italien layout...)
EDIT: looks like switzerland has a dedicated layout for keyboards...

Is it true that the Core 2 Duo, so the T7200 model, is 64-bit and the "old" T2500 is not? This would be much more future proof, or not?

EDIT²: HP Germany said that they await new models of the NC8430 in perhaps 1 month or so, and that they should be cheaper than the current models. But it sounded rather uninformed...

yes its true, and yes it is more future proof (but not that much ;) )
it is faster by 10% also.

HP Switzerland told me they would receive the new versions of the 8430/8440/9420 in early November.
I was asking about a version of the 9420 serie, configuration 9427 and they told me that it would come as 9497 in November. I guess we can expect the same thing for the other models.
