Can anyone share with me their typical battery life and the setting+work load they use to get the battery life. I am trying to choose between nc8430 and Thinkpad T60 widescreen.

Is there a modular bay battery option for nc8430?

    Thanks in advance.

Typical Life: 2:45-3:00 Hrs with light usage (normally what I do on the run)

Yes, there are two options for a secondary battery. See here for more info.
The travel battery claims to get the nc8430 7:30 hours total, and the ultra-capacity on claims 10:00 hours.

However, since I only get 3:00 (estimated was 4), I'm going to estimate you'll actually get around 5:35 and 7:30 respectively. Still worth it though if you need the extra battery life.

Both of these batteries fit underneath the laptop itself, so it will actually sit with the keyboard deck at an angle (and a more comfortable one at that too).

Ditto for the battery life expectation of 2:30-3ish. It definitely depends on what you're doing.

nc8430 does not have a modular bay. The optical drive is fixed. This is a change from earlier models (such as nc8230), which had a modular bay. It appears that HP has decided on using travel batteries on these models, instead of modular batteries.
