I just noticed that my LCD screen on my NC8430 has a slight vignetting on both lower corners of the screen. Is that normal for this type of LCD? Just got this laptop 2-3 weeks ago. The corner is just tad darker than the rest of the LCD. Top corners is fine though. I have the lpl type lcd.

I've seen two screens of the nc8430 (my old lpl and my new lpl)...they show the same thing.

hmmm that's interesting.. So you think that's normal for a nc8430 lcd? What's the reason for your LCD replacement?

I've got an LPL 1279 and I've been quite happy with it.

If I really try I think I can make out slightly darker lower corners, but I'm not sure.

If it's obvious enough, perhaps you could take pictures with a camera and post them?

I'm not sure if mine is an LDL screen, but I definitely see this issue. It's also accompanied by quite a bit of light leakage on the bottom edge of the screen -- more than i can see on the dark screen pictures of the LCD on the review on notebookreview.com. It doesn't bother me too much, as I keep a light colored panel up on the lower edge of the screen in linux and Windows, it's only obvious with a dark screen, and I had so much trouble getting my unit replaced the first time I had hardware issues that I'm wiliing to settle for a functional unit at this point. I know that sounds like a long rant, so I should probably follow up by saying that I'm otherwise happy with my nc8430 ...
