The CD tray of my HP dv6985se pops out occasionally without any reason.

I thought that some other dv6985se users (or other HP users for that matter) may have the same problem so I decided to ask you guys for solution.

I was wondering whether this is an issue that can be fixed. If so, what should I do? Is it a hardware problem or a software problem? Do I need to update the driver or something?

    o noes haxxors!!!!

Umm... does it happen just at any time? does it happen at regular intervals? I know on my laptop (Gateway), it's very sensitive and sometimes if I move the laptop a bit I accidentally just brush the cd drive and it pops out...

My dad's HP zd8000 DVD drive pops out if you move the notebook a certain way. If you put it back in it just pops out again until you orient the notebook in the "correct" position.

I think you may have a virus.

First thing I would try would be a clean install.

If above doesnt work try reseating the optical drive. You only need to remove one screw
