    A major BIOS update has been posted over at HP for current 14-inch Intel notebooks. A few models are supported in this release; see the list of compatible products below. Please note that I am posting this for informational purposes only.

    Ya man, I know... lol. My question/astonishment was more of..... it needs a software update to be compatible? Seems.... odd. Initially they stated that it would work right away with compatible laptops, heck NBR even reviewed it on the DV4 and evidently it worked, and this was a month or two ago. Which is why I am surprised/perplexed as to what exactly this update does because obviously it was already working.

    hello there!... i cant download the bios from hp ftp... file is missing... anyone can upload it for me?? please i need update bios of my notebook...

    HP has taken down the BIOS update due to unknown reasons. They have been doing this for a few products, and none of us really know why this is. :mad:

    I've updated the first post because of the dead link. Check out the driver thread for this notebook series to see the latest BIOS release.

    There are some faulty new BIOS updates, please do not update your BIOS if the current is working perfectly.

    oh no problem... thx justinkw1 and rief...

    im trying to install xp on compaq cq40 500la, but when booting for the first time she takes 10 minutes or more, I've heard that updating the bios solves the problem... :s I updated to version f.30 but still the same... anyone can help me??
