    Hi all

I just got my brand new dv7 out of the box, booted her up, went through the setup and did first reboot... on boot it just sits at a black screen beeping?!? If I go into bios first and then exit and cont booting it goes to windows, but then it acts as if its got a stuck key?!? at the password prompt the whole form box is full of characters already... so i disabled the password prompt so it would go straight to windows, reboot, into bios, back out, past password prompt, into windows and it then makes the 'ding' noise of a incorrectly pressed key, does this for about 30 secs then stops.

Any ideas?!?! I was convinced to go HP even tho my gut was telling me different!

    Felix

Hi and welcome to the forums.

I would suggest you to first use your restore disk and restore your notebook back to factory settings. Let us know if this helps with your issue.

That will work too; in fact it would be a much faster way to restore your notebook :)

    Well did restore... no dice.

Exact same thing, looks like my brand new lappy is screwed on its 2nd ever reboot. It seems to operate fine once booted and past login... so far.

    Any other ideas?

Return it to the store you bought it from and ask for an exchange. Looks like a defect.

Well thanks for suggestions. I took it back in and got a DOA swap for a new one.

This one has good keys :D

Although in the last hour I've had two random reboots with no error msgs?!?!?! what the hell have I bought!
