HP, AMD, and Lance Armstrong join together for a new Turion-based notebook!

    http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/ZDM/story?id=774993

Laptop has Armstrong's signature and the LIVESTRONG logo and includes a yellow wristband and a pair of yellow earbuds.

Sounds good, sounds like a crappy GPU though
The article says it's $999, which probably means it might have some of that integrated GPU crap...hopefully I'm wrong.

Looks like a Turion version of the dv1000. PCMag has pictures:

Rather cool looking thin-and-light. The yellow highlights are a nice, distinctive touch.

Brian, you noted that the notebook appears to be a Turion version of the dv1000. The dv1000 has integrated Intel graphics. Although it's quite obvious we won't be seeing Intel graphics, based on the price, is it safe to assume this laptop will have integrated graphics or something really low end like the Xpress 200m in the zv6000?

I'd expect the Radeon Xpress 200M, possibly with the 128MB dedicated RAM the zv6000 has. It's better than the Intel shared-memory graphics the dv1000 has. I'd be very surprised to see a proper dedicated memory GPU such as the X600, even as an option, though I think it could be done. HP seems to be more interested in making things cheap rather than high-performance these days.

HP has never really been the place to look for high-powered gaming rigs. They're notable for their outstanding build quality and terrific reliability/support. But at least they are actually cheap now...my parents use an HP Pavillion 700 that cost nearly $3000 (3.5 years ago) and came with a shared VRAM GeForce 2 MX400. Plus, the mother board only has a 4x AGP slot (even though that card could have benefitted from 8x) and the powersupply was barely sufficient for the computer as built.

    I make it look easy don't I? [ :D]

I'm starting to think that a small thin-and-light paired with an external monitor (say, one of Dell's 20" or 24" widescreens) and Bluetooth keyboard and mouse (got those) would be a neat way to go. I shouldn't be playing games anyhow. I'll probably just keep what I have though.

Dang, and I thought for sure this was going to be my notebook! [V]

I guess I'll have to keep waiting for the TravelMate 4400, the Asus A6K, or one of those Arima's I keep seeing.

"14.0" High-Definition widescreen with BrightView and high-resolution options"

Could this possibly mean that it will be offered in more than just WXGA resolution?

I noticed that HP decided to offer a Lightscribe dvd burner w/DL!!...And, it mentions better range on wireless networking by utilizing a technology branded 'Broadrange' (TM)

Either way some of us will still want to upgrade these wireless cards when/if we desire the extended range/speed of N aka Mimo...
