Original Post:
Although we know that the HP ENVY 15 and ENVY 17 are being refreshed by the end of 2011, HP will also be planning a refresh for the ENVY 14 (3XXX series?) in 2012 that may coincide with Intel's Ivy Bridge release.
This is confirmed through documentation within HP Softpaq SP55152 ( http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55152.cva).
Not much else is known about it for now...but that may change quickly.Code:SysId124=0x17CA SysName124=HP ENVY 14 Spectre![]()

It must be true - HP pulled the page already

Just saw this at The Verge. The ENVY 14 Spectre appears to have passed through the FCC, and there is a photo of the underside which shows different fan locations than on my 14-2070nr. The Verge is speculating that it might be an ultrabook, but who knows?

luqyno1 posted this in the new ENVY 15 / 17 availability thread:
HP Spectre teaser video: fantastically thin laptop, shrouded in mystery -- Engadget -
Looks like an Ultrabook to me.
HP's Envy Spectre gets teaser video, almost here by VR-Zone.com -
I wonder how HP is going to position this laptop between the Folio 13 and the Envy 15. If you want an ultrabook you would go with the Folio, and if you want a multimedia laptop you would go with the Envy. We'll just have to wait and see.
-
Maybe HP is gearing to have two ultrabooks: The Folio as their base consumer product and the Spectre 14 as their premium alternative.

Quote from one of the comments on VR-Zone:
There are some clues in the video which sort of allude to certain characteristics of the specter. 1, in the begaining, there are glasses with water, flowing water which somewhat hints at ivy bridging, then there's the continuous "amazed eyes", looking forward, which suggest that possibly a beautiful/high end screen resolution/display. We then see the notebook, and u cann almost see the different usb/hdmi outputs. As well as a small protruding part on the top part (which gives a better visual of what it might look like. Then there's the sound of sand, which must have reference but I can't think of any. But also there's there's the eclipse, which overshadows the full moon, which suggest that the spectre will be some type of a new begaining/ resurrection, hence the fact that this is all leading up to around the new year. I'm sensing something really special with this device. (SIC) -
or it's a vampire-werewolf laptop, cashing in on the Twilight fad
-
I hope it's not an ultrabook and still have a dedicated GPU
-
please... dedecated GPU, good battery life, good screen
is that too much to ask...
will buy it in a heart beat -
Guys, you can't tell 1 thing about the laptop from that video. It's nothing but pure marketing hype using cool looking graphics that don't even show you the product. What's sad is probably that amount of time and money that went into creating that, and the fact that it probably takes away from the quality of the product and their QC.
Anyone who says they can get an idea what the product is about from that video should go into sales, or become a fortune teller -
You can get some details from the vid.
Seems it will not be just a normal envy14, but they seem to focus on thiness. Also you can see it will have a different design than the 15 and 17 -

I don't know. The attached pic from the viral "leak" looks a lot like the Envy 15 I have on order.

Its suppose to have dual screens well i hope its not like Acer Iconia, i tried it out and my friend sore never to buy anything that radical again. There are huge butt load of problems with the Iconia.
Non the less i hope they use something like the following config:
AMD A8 "Pushing 2X pixels as normal screen is a hard job the integrated IGPs are more than able as compared to HD2xxx"
AMD 75xx M for crossfire with the IGP
Separate LCD controller interface for both like power, brightness, etc.
Multi hook hinge design to reduce the amount of space between the LCD's
Matted LCD very important " My friend uses a matt stick on for his Acer laptop" -
You know, the name Spectre sounds kinds like a gaming laptop. Not that it is of course.

My tech-guru mouth is watering. I'm assuming the lid will pop off at CES.

Still looks modern three years later.
Voodoo: Performance Made Personal -
Maybe companies will start to get things right when ivy bridge comes out.. Sad thing is that I HAVE to get a new laptop next week, so i guess I'll just have to sell it in 6-8mo when the new stuff comes out -
-
I never want to see another Firebird, though
-
I wonder if they would ever dust off the Firefly prototype from a few years ago?

Anyone seen the specs on this yet? I am interested to know what screen is on it. Will it have a 14" IPS screen? Will it have an optical disk?
-
I think their saving all the details for the Spectre for CES.

What would be the largest gpu, that would fit in a laptop the Spectres size?

Well in a little over 4 days hopefully we will all know what it is about.
