Hi,
I downloaded Bioshock demo today, and wanna to see how my new 2500 handles it,
To my surprise, even after I configure it with low settings at 800X600,
I was still kicked out of the actually game before it started.
So, is it 8400 not enough for low setting Bioshock?
Thanks
BTW, I have the latest driver from HP
-
i think it needs 512MB of RAM.... or a 8600GT

A game will never just kick you out of itself if your card is not up to par. It will just simply display a warning saying your hardware does not meet the minimum specifications.
If a game was picky about hardware capabilities, it would do so right when you want to install the game. -
The worst case scenario of a system not being able to run Bioshock involves every capacitor in the computer exploding.

It's not your card, it's the drivers you are using.
nvidia release ver. 163.44 and up for Bioshock, get it from laptopvideo2go. -
I had a 9500t with the 8600m GS, and I could only run Bioshock at medium to low settings at a lower resolution. I'm not sure about the 8400m GS, but with the right drivers you should be able to play at low settings at the 800x600 resolution.

but the setup wizard can not find my 8400 card.....
But the HP one easily got updated
Any reason why that happens? -

Thanks
Just installed -
With the new driver, Bioshock is able to run smoothly at low settings,
Thanks for your replies. -
Glad we could help you out! Bioshock is an amazing game, you'll definitely enjoy it!

Okay, I have an HP dv2550en with a Nvidia 8400M GS with 32-bit Vista. I tried playing Gears of War and it says the same thing, that my hardware doesnt reach the min requirments. I dont beleive it, this laptops display is the following:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7500 @ 2.20GHz (2195 MHz)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista
DirectX version: 10.0
GPU processor: GeForce 8400M GS
ForceWare version: 169.25
Total available graphics memory: 831 MB
Dedicated video memory: 64 MB
System video memory: 0 MB
Shared system memory: 767 MB
Video BIOS version: 60.86.43.00.13
IRQ: 16
Bus: PCI Express x16
In the begining I would get the same message about getting a new driver that has forceware above 163.44, so I got a 169.25 from a randomn website. It didnt install the 169.25 or 163.44. I dont know what I did but I guess I coppied the setup file from the 169.25 and placed it in the SwSetup folder where my original display drivers were. So when I installed it it kinda went through. Then when I restarted my laptop, my driver was uninstalled and a normal VGA driver was used. Then I tried the setup again and it went through but now the forceware had changed without me even realizing it. When I run Gears of War it still says I dont have the min hardware requirements. And when I ignore it the game runs for like 45 sec and then stops stating an error occured while running the application. I just want to know what did you download. I'm not familiar with laptops much, so please if you can give me a link to which driver is best and how you used the modded INF to cause it to run. Thank you! -
OKay I know how to update my forceware from that site but what I dont get is why in the world does Gears of War say that I dont have the min requirments to run the game. The mins requirments for the game is as follows:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
OS: Windows Vista or Windows XP
Processor 2.4+ GHz Intel; 2.0+ Ghz AMD
RAM 1 GB
Hard Drive 12 GB free hard drive space
Video Card NVIDIA GeForce 6600+, ATI X700+
Online Multi-player: Online Multiplayer – Games for Windows – LIVE Silver Membership (included) -
oh... and you only have 64 dedicated ram, i think the minimum for that game was 128mb or rams.
Maby thats the chocking point
