What you've been told will receive as a replacement: ASUS 10" Netbook or Compaq CQ56
NOTE: My TX1220 was a top of the line "Entertainment PC" with hi end features such as Turion Dual Core TL-64 CPU, 2 GB memory, hi end graphics chip, 200 GB hard drive, DVD burner, hi resolution 12" touchscreen display, web camera, long lasting battery, and even a remote control for presentations. The computer died in 2008 shortly after the warranty expired and it would still be in service had it not had the defective NVIDIA graphic chip. What may not be common knowledge is that a 12" tablet like mine costs twice as much as even a 17" laptop.
The proposed ASUS Netbook is a joke. It doesn’t even have a DVD drive so you can't install software until you buy an external drive, only 1 GB of memory so many of my programs won't run, and those that do will crawl because the netbook has a slowwwwwwwwwwwww CPU.
Even the Compaq CQ56 is no match for my 4 year old computer. APC Mag reviewed a higher end CQ56 ( Compaq CQ56 - basic notebook alternative to a netbook - APC Notebook Hunter ) commenting that it was worth considering as an “alternative to a netbook”. And that pretty well sums it up, its basically a big screen netbook with a Celeron CPU, no where near the equal of my Turion Dual CPU computer that it’s supposed to be “of similar kind” to. Even worse is we may not get that model, they may give us an even cheaper version.
HP does still make a 12” tablet that the ordinary man would not be able to distinguish from the computer I had, the TM2T and its only half the cost of what I paid for mine. Seems to me that a replacement “of similar kind” should be able to do everything my current computer does. Hmmmmmm, something doesn’t smell right. -

The most upgraded CQ56 is a piece of crap compared to my dv9000z. I would be satisfied with a replacement that included the following features that are on my dv9000z:
- 17" display (hopefully with a resolution of at least 1680x1050)
- Dual core processor
-
Platform Name: HP tx1410us, tablet
Product Identification Number: not sure
Date of purchase: 02/29/2008
Purchase amount: $1175 +tax
What you've been told will receive as a replacement: Asus EEE Pc or CQ56
As I bought an "entertainment PC" with tablet, I should not have to choose between a "value computer" without features (and a single core processor!) or a tablet "netbook" without the computing power of a PC. -
TX1410us
2GB ram
250 GB HD
1280x800 12.1" touch screen (180 deg swivel) Bright View
802.11 a/b/g/n wireless
10/100/1000 Mbps LAN
Blue-tooth wireless
5 in 1 media reader
AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core (2.2ghz)
Express Card 34
Entertainment remote control
Windows Vista Home Premium (With Media Center)
DVD/CD recorder (DVD ± R RW DL)
Finger print reader
S-Video out port
2x headphone jacks
Microphone jack
Web Camera
6 cell lithium ion battery
Altec Lansing speakers
Neither the net book/tablet or the base model notebook come close to what my tablet/entertainment notebook should have been. Paid $1200.00 and nothing but trouble after the warranty expired. Fixed it my self once and was able to get a few more months work out of it.
This is contempt of court. There is no expert anywhere that would "honestly" say these were of "similar kind and value". -

Not exactly "The replacement HP notebook computer will be of similar kind and value as their eligible malfunctioning notebook computer" by any means as mentioned in the settlement - cheaper brand, smaller screen, less features - hardly close to "similar kind/value"; the prorated language is an added smack in the face, given the settlement doesn't appear to use that language at all - very sad to say the least. -
From this point on, please complete your system and contact info here
nickmchls, may I ask you to complete the online form as well?

Hi jtfrommer,
Do you know any news for our case? I am still holding my TX1410us and the final date to send it is near, what do you think? Thank you and have a great weekend. -
If your Replacement Claim has been approved, your computer must be received by July 18, 2011.

Send it in RIGHT away!!!! -
Anyone that filed a Reimbursement claim received anything yet? I haven't seen anything.
My Dv9420US that I repaired in January 2011 is still working! (Knock on wood!)
I didn't send it in for replacement with the ComCrap CQ-56 because the CQ-56 doesn't meet my needs!

Hey at least you got somthing right? -
I called the info line Monday to find out where my replacement is and they said it is now taking the full 10 weeks because they have to custom order each one. Yeah, right. By the time it gets here I bet the resale value drops to $150.

I sent it in 7/12 and they received it 7/15. People at the litigation site confirmed it had arrived and had passed the serial matching process and that they were now waiting for the replacement computer to be built. She said they don't order a replacement computer to be built until serial number is verified. CTO builds don't take 10 weeks so I just kind of laughed at her and said "whatever."
