I've got a NW8240 Mobile Workstation for work, that has high security and not useable for personal stuff.

In order to try and avoid carrying a second laptop with me on my frequent business trips, I was wondering if I could :

    1. buy a Modular Hard Drive (that slots in where the DVD drive is currently - is this available?)

    2. install Vista on it,

    3. somehow choose to boot from either the internal hard drive (for work), or the modular hard drive (for play).

Does anyone know if this is possible?

If so, how should I go about doing it?

    Thanks in advance

    Jon

Vista wont install on usb or firewire harddrives. I tried to install on my 7200rpm FW 400 my book and it would not let me.

Wingsbr, the HP Multibay II hard drive is neither firewire or USB, so I hope this isn't a problem?

If you want to know for sure, go into the BIOS and see if there is a "boot to multibay" (or similar) option. If the BIOS supports booting from it, Vista should support the install.
