Hi everyone. I'm a newb and I didn't find any FAQ on what not to post..so go easy on me plz if i did something wrong.
I'm interested in buying a notebook and I've narrowed down my choices to Fujitsu's N5000 series and HP NX7010.
Since the notebook will be used at my work to primarly deal with word processing, internet etc, I am looking for a notebook with the best screen possible.
From the Fujitsu forum here, i read that the crystal view display is a non-glare version of Sony's XBRITE screens found on some of their vaio notebooks.
I made up my mind to buy the fujitsu until I saw the NX7010 with a BRIGHTVIEW option.
Can anyone comment on how good this brightview is? If possible I'm wondering if you can comment on how good it is compared to the Sony XBRITEs.
Thank you.

Hi,
I'm getting this model (1.5 PM, 512 RAM, 64 ATI 9200, 40Gb 4200rpm, WSXGA) tomorrow, so I'll psot a review on this unit in this forum. I have only seen the computer in the store, but I must say I really liked the screen, since it's WSXGA (1680x1050 pixels) the resolution is quite high and the image is sharp and clear. I think the aspect ratio is about 16:10. But, in general, I found it to be a great machine, except the slow Hard drive, which I can't replace since this does not come as an option over here.

Exactly, jesoonster...
The screen is PERFECT: bright, sharp, clear. I don't know whether this one has Brightview (perhaps it does, if it comes standard with every model), but I assure you you won't regret this screen. The resolution is 1680x1050 and the iconns might seem a little bit small for those who have bad eyesight. Also, if you try to turn down the resolution (to something like 1280x1024 or lower) the screen appears stretched and blurry. So, if you're getting this laptop, make sure to check if the resolution suits your eyes, since you'll have to stay with it forever. But, on the whole, it is great. Very clear and sharp and perfect. You won't regret it.
i don't know how good it is comparing it to Sony's Xbrite, since I have never owned one of those, but, as I have already said, I'm in love with it.
P.S: Haven't run any games on it yet, so I cannot judge the viedocard and the screen as far as gaming is concerned.
P.S.S: I'll paste a review on this unit shortly.

Jesoonster,
I'm not too sure with the Brightview option is for the HP units. I did a search on their website and nothing came up. I also checked the internet and found the LG uses this technology on some of their LCD monitors. Here's a caption from the LG monitor manual: "This function optimizes the brightness, contrast or color value to the surrounding conditions and settings." It gives you 4 modes to select, each changes the brightness, colour, etc... to suit watching a DVD or word processing.
I personally have not seen this in the HP NX7000 units since I owned one of these, but I can't comment on the new NX7010's. As what Quesoyyo indicated, the screen is very bright and clear, the text becomes not as sharp when you lower the resolution. I have never seen/used a Sony notebook and also can't comment on their LCD's, but I would definately say that the HP's LCDs are one of the brightest/sharpest on the market in my opinion.
Here's the link to Quesoyyo's review on his NX7010:

Thx appreciate the input =) I better dig up the contrast ratio on the monitor...I think that'll tell me outright. The contrast ratio on the fujitsus and the sonys are 600:1 GASP.
*still wonders if anyone saw the brightview screen and fujitsu crystalview or sony xbrite screens* [8D] -
All I can say is that if HP's "Brightview" screen can come close to Sony's XBrite/Fujitsu's CrystalView technologies it will be a sight to behold. I've personally only seen Sony's XBrite (one reason why I have the laptop I do) but I'm sure the others are good. Enjoy the laptop!

Took the plunge and got the fujitsu N5010. All I can say is that the notebook screen is fantastic. At first glance I regretted not getting the sony...but after using the fujitsu I noticed (like others have said) that there weren't any reflective properties like that of the sony xbrite screens. Since i'm going to be looking at the screen for significantly long periods of time on research....I would definitely prefer this screen....since I noticed that Sony screens (while they look gr8 at first glance) make it very uncomfortable to the eye after looking at the screen for long periods of time (stayed at bestbuy and looked at the sony xbrite sxga+ for like 20 min lol).

Could you elaborate on the non-reflective nature of the CrystalView screen, compared with the Sony Xbrite?
I am interested in a new Fujitsu with a ClearView screen, but have no local retailers here (minneapolis), so I'd likely have to order "blind."
When I see Xbrites in showrooms, I find the reflections distracting. I can see the light fixtures behind me like a mirror image.
Can you describe how the Fujitsu is different?
Thanks.
NX7010 Brightview screeN how is it?
