The "Safely Remove Hardware" feature on my NX8220 shows that there are two items that can be removed.
1) Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet
2) MAT****A UJ-822Da - Drive (F![]()
I understand that the DVD drive is removable, but I don't plan on removing it. Is it possible to take if off of this list? Also, why is the ethernet on the list? Does it refer to the network card, or just the network that I am connected to?

Miufahkiu,
The reason the NIC & DVD are listed is because they're plug'n play devices. They can be un-mounted or turned off. That's also why the NIC is listed. It has a Power Saving feature that will automatically turn off the NIC when you're using wireless. This actually gives you a bit extra battery power. When you turn wireless off and plug the ethernet cable back, it automatically turns back on. So, it's not possible to remove it from the list without turning it off.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I've been quite impressed with my system thus far. I reformatted the hard drive to remove the clutter that was already on the system, not that there was that much to begin with.
The bundled software is decent, although now I am using ZoneAlarm instead of Norton Antivirus. Also, I've switched to PowerDVD; the bundled Intervideo WinDVD 5 crashed quite often, and would take forever to load DivX movies. The picture looked better on WinDVD 5 though. I tried WinDVD 6 to see if it would resolve those issues, but it didn't; rather, the picture quality was now worse than PowerDVD. Needless to say, I reverted to PowerDVD.
I haven't gotten a chance to try the wireless or bluetooth yet. I didn't notice any of the high pitched noise when running on battery, but again, I wasn't using wireless/bluetooth. The DVD drive is quite noisy when it's reading, but I understand that the speed can be limited with some software.
I might post up a review once I have some more time with the notebook, particularly with it away from my desktop.
