I'm in a bit of a pickle. I had my mind set on a NX9420 and find out that I can order discounted HPs through my employer. The quote comes back on two versions of this notebook and it's not what I expected.

Option 1: web price of $1,899 - comes back with a quote of $1,899 because it is on promo. The differences between it and the other quote are:
Processor Intel Core Duo processor T2400* (1.83-GHz, 667-MHz FSB 2-MB L2 cache) , Hard Drive 100-GB 5400 rpm SATA ,Display 17.0-inch WSXGA+ wide viewing angle BrightView display with 1680 x 1050 resolution and 16M colors

Option 2: web price of $2,299 - comes back with a quote of $1,699. The differences between it and the other quote are:
    Intel Core Duo processor T2500* (2.00-GHz, 667-MHz FSB, 2-MB L2 cache),
Hard Drive 80-GB 7200 rpm SATA, Display 17.0-inch WSXGA+ wide viewing angle display with 1680 x 1050 resolution and 16M colors

I really like the BriteView option on the more expensive version but that version is $400 cheaper on the web and I feel like I would be passing up on a speedier processor and hardrive (albeit with 20GB less).

I plan to use this primarily as a personal machine, some game play and some database development. Any thoughts or experiences with a regular HP SXGA+ screen are welcome. What would you choose?

option 2. both screens are great for your usage type. the difference being only Brightview. however, the processor and HD performance upgrades can't be ignored on the cheaper-to-you version.
