My first HP laptop just arrived (I've purchased Dell for 10+ years). I could use some advice about what bloatware programs to remove from my new HDX 16t (Vista Ultimate 64).
In the attached image, I've highlighted in Yellow the programs that I think are bloatware. Please advise whether other programs should be added to my list, or some removed.
Thanks!

yep, i'd get rid of all of those. mind you, if you want to do it properly, wipe the HDD and reinstall the OS from a (clean) install disc, and then reinstall only the programs you really want.

Whizzo is right, that would be the best was to deal with it.
Less hassle, easier to manage. -
OK, so I've found the page on the HP site with all of the drivers, etc. In my case: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2100&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3769207&lang=en#
I bought the $19.99 OS disc with my purchase. So between that disc and the webpage, I should be able to reinstall everything minus the bloat, right?
UPDATE: Actually, the OS disc I have says: Installing this disc will return your computer's HD to its original configuration." Does that mean that all of the bloatware programs will reinstall? -
Don't remove Media... and HP update

If you ordered the disc from HP, then it will also have the bloatware on it.

I also have an 64bit OEM disc from Dell, but that's probably the full of Dell bloatware... So is there any way for me to do a clean install w/o bloatware?

electrosoft Perpetualist Matrixist
Yeah, they sent you a set of "recovery" discs which restores it to its factory ship status (There is an option you could have made the discs yourself from the recovery partition). You need to track down a real install DVD. I keep an OEM one around, since Vista makes it real easy to install and then switch the key to the proper one and validate.

Thanks, electrosoft. So you're saying that I could reintall using a friend's retail disc and then use my license key to activate?
-
You can use your recovery discs to do a clean install:

Either go with the clean install option.......or manually uninstall the desired programs, following up with both CCleaner + Advanced SystemCare to remove any extraneous traces and cleanse the system registry.

I noticed CCleaner only supports up to Vista 32 bit, will it work for 64?
