Does anyone know what's going on with the TZ02?
I Open the back of my ENVY 14 to clean up the fan. After that, it remains to show this high temp, which makes the fan running at high. Actually, the temp of TZ02 doesn't change.

I tried to change the advanced BIOS setting, but nothing changes.
    the fan noisy is annoying.

    Really appreciated with your help!!

anyone know what happened? I changed the thermal compound of the CPU and GPU.Then this situation came out.

Might have something to do with the job you did. Also, where there other components attached to the heatsink that used thermal pads?

I double checked the heatsink, there are three parts that need thermal pads, CPU, GPU and motherboard chip. I put new thermal compound on these parts, but the temp of TZ02 still remains to that number shows in the attachment picture. the problem is the temp never change while the system starts.

I contacted with HP service, and they said I need to send my laptop back to them. it's still under warranty. Hope the problem will solve.

It's likely to be the chipset temperature. Perhaps due to lack of pressure.

so i need to put a thermal pad on that chipset, not only the thermal compound?
    thank you

Do NOT put both thermal paste and thermal pads on any components. The combination will actually impede heat transfer more than if just one of the two methods is used.

So you removed the original thermal pad and replaced it with thermal compound, is that right?

Thermal pad should not be replaced with thermal compound. The thermal compound is liquid in nature, and will cause the pressure on the chipset to decrease, resulting in higher temperatures.

Concur with yknyong1. To replace a thermal pad, you have to use a copper shim with thermal compound on both sides of the shim. But thermal pads are generally better to use unless the chip's heatspeader mates with a copper heatsink. For an aluminum mate, thermal pads are better.

BTW, what thermal compound did you use?

I sent the laptop back to HP. They replaced new motherboard and fan for me.
After a few days using, the same issue happened to me. I disassembled the laptop and put a piece of copper sheet under the chipset, the issue disappeared.

    Thank you for your help.

I always seat the heatsink twice. I put a VERY thin layer of thermal compound on both the heatsink and device. After replacing the heatsink I will then remove it again and check for full contact across the entire surface of the device.

A cooling system designed to be used with thermal pads will almost always have a very small gap that you can't just fill with thermal compound; you have to use an appropriate shim. The shim needs to be exactly the right thickness though or the heatsink contact area will be tilted to one side and not make full contact.

Get HP to replace the entire heatsink assembly, as it seems the heatsink may be faulty.

If possible, have HP replace the entire laptop considering the many repairs you have gone through with their support.
