Hey guys I have an hp DV7-1135nr laptop. Recently there was an incident and one of my friends managed to throw up into my laptop while it was open and on. The computer was off before i could pull the battery and even after being cleaned and dried will not turn on, this leads me to believe that the system board has shorted out and needs to be replaced. Where can i find a replacement system board and how much should i expect to pay?

Seeing as how i have already taken the laptop apart, are there any upgrades I can do while replacing the sytem board? It has a 2.0 ghz dual core AMD
processor, and crappy integrated graphics. I was wondering if i would be able to purchase and install a better system board?

    a) get new friends
    b) get the old friend to pony up a couple of hundred $$ for repairs
    c) find the service manual for your machine
    d) motherboard part numbers will be listed there

You do know that vomit is pretty much acid, yes? Even the vapors are corrosive (it takes car paint off).

I would write the machine and the friend off and go for something new. Your hard drive is quite possible compromised from the exposure.

There is basically zero chance of any other mobo fitting and working in the machine. The only ones that will work are the ones in the service manual. :)

Cheapest place to buy a replacement part is on ebay. Just search for the part number.

Also i'd say you may just be better off buying a new laptop.. they are not too expensive especially if you can find a decent coupon.
