    Hello,
I have a compaq v4000 that will not boot/post. I hear everything running fine, including CD drive- fan will kick on when it gets hot, but no video on internal and external monitor. How do I narrow it down to a video problem or something like bios? As far as I can tell, it is not loading windows, and no beeps, so I don't think it is a video problem. Is it possible to swap out the bios chip (or video chip) with another? I have tried unpluging Cmos bat. for a couple days and still nothing. I know the video card in integrated, but is it possible to take it off somehow?

    Thanks for any help,

    Jayson

tried hard resetting? take out all power source (ac charge and battery) and hold the power on button for 15sec. or if that doesnt work take your RAM out and replacing it back.

    could have several problems....
ram or cpu could make problems....

as for the integrated graphics - no, you cannot take that one out and replace it. even if your lcd or inverter is broke the notebook should boot into windows..
have you tried an external monitor ?

Hello, thanks for replying. I have tried the hard reset. I have completely taken the laptop apart and put it back together a few times. Even tried running the motherboard, ram, cpu... out of the case. I have another laptop that I tried to swap Ram and CPU with no luck. How do I find which one is the bios chip? Is it possible that is the problem?
