    Hello

I purchased a used HP 6910p with the XP professional downgrade. The bottom of the computer has a Vista Business COA.

I would like to format the drive clean and recover the laptop to it's original spec that HP sent it to the first buyer who had this laptop. However i am not sure how to do that.

I called HP customer support and they weren't much help, they asked me if i saw any other partition in "my computer" which i don't however most of the times those partitions are hidden anyway.

If it helps at all, when i boot up the laptop i am given to options:

    1) Microsoft Windows XP Professional
    2) Microsoft Windows Recovery Console

    -------------------

The main thing i'm trying to do is recover to factory XP Pro specs WITHOUT VISTA BUSINESS. This laptop is for my brother and i bought it specifically because it had XP Pro on it so recovering to Vista Business would be a huge PITA.

Any and all help would be useful.

    Thank you
    Jim

Did it not come with XP Pro recovery discs? The Vista business key on the bottom of your notebook will work for XP pro and vista. As the notebook is licensed to both OS.

Odd. Register with HP ITRC and make a case with them, ask for a set of vista and XP recovery discs as you are entitled to them. HP business ITRC rules... :D
