You may have gotten a bad connection or not utilized the HP help section properly. Why don't you try again, doing it this way:

To download QuickTouch + MediaSmart drivers (or any other HP drivers, software or firmware) go to the HP Support and Drivers page: http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html

On the Support and Drivers, in the Support for your Products section, click “Download drivers and software and firmware” and fill in the name of your product, e.g. in my case I would fill in: “Pavilion dv5t.”

(Or, if you choose, you can go to the section just below that one, “Automatically detect Products names/numbers” and let HP automatically detect the name of your system for you.)

If you chose to name your own product, on the next screen, the Products Search Results page, you will be given more specific descriptions to choose your specific notebook: e.g. again, in my case, for an HP Pavilion dv5t, one of the choices might be: “HP Pavilion dv5t-1000 Entertainment Notebook PC series – HP Pavilion dv5t1000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC”

Select Your Operating System page, click on your specific OS – i.e. Microsoft Windows 7, (64 bit)

On the Compatible Software and Drivers page, select your drivers.
Go down to the Software Solutions section + select: HP QuickTouch Software and follow the on-screen directions.

After you've downloaded those drivers and re-booted, you can go back and go to the Software Multimedia section + select: MediaSmart.

I know all that but there are no hp quicktouch drivers for windows 7 for my model. The Hp mediasmart dvd software also refuses to install. So what can i do? Do you have any quicktouch drivers for your dv5t?

Yes, of course, but they were preinstalled with the system. . . and I am running Vista, not Windows 7. Can HP Sales + Support and/or Tech Support give you any useful suggestions?

So glad to hear they were able to help with MediaSmart, sean -- you sounded really frustrated! What about QuickTouch -- no help there?

I'm using quicktouch vista 64 bit drivers.. no choice.. but it seems to work fine. I even used a registry hack to remapp the quickplay button to mediasmart.. I replaced the whole quickplay suite with the mediasmart one from a different laptop :).. if you want i can help you do that too!

Great, glad the Vista 64 bit drivers are working for your QuickTouch. That's what I am running too. Thanks very much for the offer, but I'm not as brave as you. For me, everything's working fine (at least, right now) and I'm a firm believer of the old maxim: If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Keep up the good work, though.

    Hi Sean,
I seem to experience basically the same problem you were describing:
    1. upgraded my vista to win7
    2. quickplay doesn't work with win7
    3. uninstalled quiclplay and installed mediasmart instead
    4. mediasmart works great but I lost the quickplay button functionality (it's basically dead now cuz there's no quickplay)

HP told me that there is no way of reassigning the Q button to mediasmart, but I suspected that there is probably a registry hack to fix it.

How did you do it? how does this hack work?

    Thanks!

    p.s
I have an HP Pavilion dv4-1030ej Entertainment Notebook PC
