Filled out the excellent 'what laptop shd I buy' FAQ and was recommended the HP dvt5.
However, I'm in the UK and it's not easy to find (are they even on sale here?!). I'd like to do gaming so am looking for a vid card around the Nvidia GeForce 9600.
P7350 wd seem to be adequate, but I do not want to pay for a Blu-Ray drive.
Seems that our US cousins have all kinds of customising options and coupon offers that we are not getting on our small island![]()
UK HP website doesn't even list the two models with GeForce 9600 on their suppliers list!
Can any smart/well informed people out there point me in the right direction for a UK supplier where I can find dvt5 equivalent machines to buy (either online or physical world).
Thanks for all your help.

i got mine with a 9200 gs from currys, but pcworld also sell a similar one. none with a 9600 though. sorry mate. they used to have one. have a look at the HDX series too, i think they are similar or better in performance. not sure what the downside to them is though. they are more common in the UK by the look of it.

There are online auction houses in the US
with product that you're wanting and that deliver in the UK. I'd be looking there if I were you, because most of the DV5t series I've seen in the UK are no where near sub gaming standards.

Thanks a lot guys. That's what I was afraid of.
Does anyone have any idea if there are any legal issues I should know about if I get one delivered from US - e.g. import tax etc.
What kind of auction sites you talking about? Has anyone actually done this?
Cheers. -
Hi, a couple of websites for you to look at
http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/AdvSearch/default.aspx?rewrite=Blu-Ray_Laptops
http://direct.tesco.com/q/N.1999724$4294948381/Nr.99.aspx
http://www.anvika.com/computing/man...egoryName=Intel Core 2 Duo Based PC Notebooks
I personally love my DV7 from PC World with the 9600GT-rips through the games I play.
Hope the above links help a little. -
DV5-1010ea: Comet; £636
Got mine from there, but it came with a P8400 instead of a P7350 for some reason (its not meant too)
Need UK-centric HP info
