I really like this Compaq notebook mainly to its portability (14" screen, 9.4" depth), pointing stick (hate touchpads) style, build, battery life, low fan noise and full Windows XP support. But a few things bother me:

    1) The price based on specs: Of course, it's due to it being in the "Business Professional" line. There are many notebooks with better specs for that price that include things such as a top tier video card.
    2) The video card: Mobility Radeon X2300 doesn't do justice for me. I'm a casual gamer, but would like to play a few medium/high end games from time to time. Also, this doesn't have a H.264 decoder which is quite bad especially since high definition is everywhere these days.

I'm looking for a notebook similar to this. Can anyone recommend me one? It's for college mostly but I'm a very heavy computer user. Thanks.

I never really liked the Thinkpad series. And I hate Dells :\ I was thinking around the lines of a Compaq.

Compaq is actually HP now, in fact, your HP 6910p is called HP compaq 6910p. So...
Why do hate thinkpad and Dell? Beside the HP one, that's the only two can match up in terms of build quality.

Well I know HP is Compaq now, but HP Compaq are originally from a Compaq background, just they made it a little bit "HPier". For ThinkPad, I just don't like the design and that it doesn't really appeal to me in terms of looks. I've never liked Dell but the notebook seems to have poor speakers and not a good screen.

All I can say is too bad, as I said above, those are the only two can match up in terms of build quality, if you don't like it, you can try some other brands, but don't expect them to be as well built.

If you can wait, then the 6930p Elitebook should be a great option. The HP Compaq business notebooks are essentially the natural replacements for Compaq's previous range of excellent business notebooks (Evo, Armada, etc.)

for the video card there's an Asus 14.1" with an ATi 3650 on newegg. It was on sale for $1100 when I saw it.
