I am about to buy a brand new envy 14 beat edition of a guy from.craigslist. He refused to tell me where he gets it though. He also refused to tell me if it still has warranty or not and told me to call hp to check myself.
It sounds suspicious but given the deal it is too sweat to skip. The envy is brand new, i5, 4gb ram at 600$.
So my question is will I able to use this with wifi? A friend of mine told me if this is indeed a stolen machine and reported, as soon as I get online it will report to hp and block my internet connection. What is the point of having a laptop without internet access?
Is there a way to check the serial number of the machine to see if the envy is valid before I buy it?
    Thanks for any advice
