Right now there is still very limited information on the specs of these machines.

Yes, you can upgrade the ram. I don't think any of the HP Omens have come with soldered ram in the latest gens. This is a pretty thick laptop too so it doesn't really make much sense to solder it in.

The 3070 GPU is 125W+15W dynamic boost.

This is a new chassis for the 17" so no one knows yet, but presumably it is good considering how well the downsized chassis/heatsink worked on the 15". Also they advertised that the new cooling system has reduced temperatures by 5C compared to last gen, so presumably this is a good indication, but lets wait until reviews are out.

There will most likely be at least 2 SSD slots.

Been trying to look for this as well, as far as I know it was suppose to release last month, it's July now and still nothing. Nothing coming out of the official channels either. I mean I guess it's shortages but still the silence feels bad.

Do you know if the new 16" model RTX 3070 GPU is 125W+15W dynamic boost also?

Still nothing yet in the UK, this and the omen 16 are the last laptops that I know of that are to be released. I don't know of any new laptops coming other than MSI's just announced all AMD Ryzen lineup. So just waiting for these omen reviews before I can get a view of the full selection available in 2021 and so I can make a purchase.

Update on UK stock at least. Got an e-mail from a HP rep saying that they are expecting inventory for the new models in October. Which of course is disappointing it's so far out considering the original release date was end of June. Anyway did anyone manage to get any of the very limited 3070 versions that went up on the USA website before it got pulled? Wanted to hear feedback if anyone has.

Trying to decide between the Alienware X17, Legion 7 and this HP Omen 17.
Having such a hard time thinking about which to get.
The AX17 is no QHD + smaller keyboard layout.
Legion 7 isn't a full 17 inch and temps on the fully specced 3080 seems to get real hot.
HP Omen's only con for me the dumb power button placement. I hope the temps and fan noise are under control.
