I'm looking for a vista 6150 driver. The stock HP provides terrible perfomance, it won't allow me to play Second Life without serious lag on lowest settings. I need this for my MIS class. My friends dv2000t with the Intel gma 950 plays it fine. So I'm guessing its purely a driver issue. I've tried the modded laptop2go drivers and they all seem to have problems. Anyone know of any versions that work smoothly? Also when is HP going to officially release a driver that works

Microsoft released a new NVIDIA graphics driver on their Microsoft Update Catalog, dated 1/2/2008. It is version 167.58 and it supports the GeForce Go 6150, as well as many other cards. Give them a try and see if this solves your problems. Hope this helps!

I guess the only way to tell is to download 3DMark05 and then run tests on each driver. I find the whole driver situation so confusing. A driver will have one numbering system on one site but then another numbering system on another site (HP site vs. Nvidia or laptop2go). Then one driver that works well on X program will not work as well as another driver version does on program Y.

I think one of the easier tests without installing software is to open Media Center in Vista. If the media center logo is jerky as it fades into the background, you know the driver is not the best ;)

If you find one that really works well, let us know.

Thanks justinkw1! Downloading that driver made the game run 100x better. :D The only problem is the screen blacks out for like 5 secs each time the windows UAC screen comes up, and then 5 more after u click it. Also the startup is slower, and shows a black screen for like 15 seconds before loading windows.

The only driver other than the stock 98.15 from HP was 156.73 from laptopvideo2go. This doesnt have the long blank pause before and after the UAC prompt nor the 15 sec delay. If you are willing, then try this version and see if it fixes your issues.

P.S: There is no need for the modified inf for 156.73. The inf is located in a zip folder inside the extracted folder. Just extract the files from the zip and replace the inf to install the driver. This way it is whql certified as well.

Have you seen this on the front page of laptopvideo2go?

    167.58 is out

The very first 2008 driver and you saw it first here
There is no driver newer than these on this or any other planet. (dated 2nd January)
These are from Microsoft and are meant for ASUS and HP/Compaq Mobile GPU's
This driver is for these GPU's, these supported and are WHQL and are OEM specific (ie should be WHQL for any make/model)

Just go the the nVidia web site. They should have the latest drivers. Have to read the how to install it though. Vista will say it's not approved but you can install the driver manually.

I had the same UAC delay issue with the MS drivers and an HP TX1000 with GeForce Go 6150.

Just in case someone's wondering. The MS drivers can be used without the UAC delay if you turn off aero, which of course will rob you of the eye candy. :(

Did you try the above driver I suggested in my previous post? It fixed most of the issues on my 6150 Go had with the stock 98.15 & the latest MS drivers. It's a nice compromise and is WHQL certified as well.

I've got a dv6000z notebook running Vista Home Premium 32-bit. Until about a week ago I was using the 158.45 driver from laptopvideo2go which works amazingly with the Go 6150. A week ago though, I updated it to 171.16 -- also from laptopvideo2go -- and also downloaded Ntune to optimize my card, there is an auto optimize option which does the job. My gaming graphics score went from 2.4 to 3.0, other scores improved too but not too significantly. My games run smoother now too. No problems at all with these drivers, my computer works flawlessly. Highly recommend them. Uninstall your old drivers before installing the new ones though.
