I sent in my Laptop to get it painted. When it came back, the wifi, media control, and volume/mute button stopped working. (the buttons above the keyboards)
Before I send it back, I want to see if a connection is loose and connect it myself.
I removed all the screws and manage top pop out most of the base, but the area were the AC adapter connects to is STUCK...
Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or, do I use some force and force it to pop open?
--------------------------------
I know it's not the drivers, it worked perfectly b4 I sent it in. It has to be a connection because the blue lighting that usually light up those buttons no longer light up.
And just to make sure it's not the drivers, I installed every driver available from HP. all the bios, chipset and quick launch drivers.
I even remove the battery and hold the power button for 1 min..
--------------------------------
I contact the shop that did my laptop and are waiting for their response. I really don't want to ship it back, but I don't want a damage laptop either.
I spent $280 + shipping to get it painted and to have it come back like this is unacceptable.

Which one do you have specifically? Here is a link to HP's site, just choose your model and on the right hand side pick "Manuals". Download the pdf and go to the disassembly instructions. Here is the basic dv1000 pdf link.

And yes, they did forget to hook up the connections. Everything is working now. I also see 3 broken tabs on the base that they broke. Good thing is, you can't tell when its connected back together.
They should have used the PDF file above. It cleary shows that you have to push up, than slide it out. Looks like they just popped it out by force.
I am still pissed they didnt reply to my emails and the paint job on the left speaker grill have (4) ballpoint chips on it. I hope they send me some touch up paint to fix that. -

Who did the work?

The overall quality on the paint is pretty good. The graphic however, doesn't wrap around the entire lid like it does on the sample gallery.

You could download the pdf manuals, or better yet, you can visit the Services Media Library, which provides step-by-step video tutorials on how to take apart, remove, and replace parts on just about any HP/Compaq notebook. Below is the link for your dv1000:
