I like the Brightview and not the infinity. You stand the risk of getting "dust" between the infinity glass and the LCD. Plus there is somewhat less glare with just the Brightview.

However, the Infinity display looks much nicer. Although it does have more glare, I have to say that the picture quality is EXCELLENT. All the images look crisp and it just looks like it is a higher quality product.

The best thing to do is to go to a retail store where the dv7t is being displayed and take a look for yourself. When it comes to asthetics, nothing replaces actually seeing the product for yourself. If the stores don't have the dv7t they may have other models with the Infinity screen. When I was deciding between several laptop models, I thought I had it all figured out BEFORE I went to look at them for myself. Yes, some sounded great on paper, but I sure didn't like them as much in person. And I really was bothered by the Infinity screen -- way too much glare for me. Go take a look and see what you think. You'll be grateful that you did!

Thanks guys! I found out that bestbuy has the dv7 on display and iam gonna go with wifey this weekend to take a look. From what i read the one the have on display comes with brightview not infinity so we'll see if i like it. thanks again. Here is the labtop at bestbuy. Question should i configure from HP or go with this one from bestbuy even though it does not come with new processor.

Owning both AMD and Intel notebooks, Intel based notebooks are better because they are faster and cooler at the same rated GHZ.

Oh no not the GHz debate again. I have two AMD based laptops while my main (desktop) computer has an Intel processor. I am satisfied with all three. Of course the desktop is faster when it comes to heavy duty work or gaming but its configuration is vastly superior to my laptops. I see absolutely nothing wrong with AMD processors.

From your specs, you should know how the Infinity display already looks, and you know its a head turning for most HP owners because most average HP users don't know about the flush screen (I've gotten quite a few questions asking why my screen was so clear and different looking). That side, I have dust problems and what not, the glue they used on my screen sucks, and the design causes the screen to peel itself off when I open the display, causing it to buff against my touch keys on the top. Lots of trouble my screen yes, but I am really happy with it still. When it's on, I don't see the dust (honestly I only get peeved when my laptop is off beacuse I can see it), and I really love how it looks. But sometimes I just like the non infinity screens because they just look so much more brighter for some reason, and are a ton easier to maintain and less to worry about imo.

It's not even a matter of debate that AMD mobile processors run hotter than Intel. I own several notebooks and HAVE to undervolt the AMD ones because of the heat issues. HP doesn't always design the cooling system specifically for AMD processors. They usually design one type for both AMD and Intel. It's great for the Intel Processors, poor for the AMD.

As for GHZ debate, the simple answer is best. For the competing mobile platforms, say PUMA v Santa Rosa... if one were to consider a AMD ZM-80 (2.1ghz) v Intel T8100 (2.1ghz) I would advise that they get the Intel. Considerably faster, runs cooler and gets better battery life.

Still holds true for the most part with current competing AMD v Intel platforms.
