i have the guide but any tips would do. I'm trying to access the screen cable area especially so if there's anything delicate there or something , it would really help. Also does anyone know how the screen cable connector looks like because mine is loose?

From that manual above, do the pages 69-72 to take out switch cover and keyboard.
Take out speaker assembly on page 74.
Then you can access the display cable, marked as 1 in the upper picture on page 77.

Possibly it's reachable without taking the speakers out, I can't remember that much.

It's practically impossible to miss, since there's only 2 WLAN cables and one Display cable going into the monitor. Inverter cable is included in the display cable.

If the cable is loose, you don't have any picture on screen. If you have flickers, streaks, all kinds of errors, then you have a broken cable and you should just replace it.

well mine streaks and makes all lines and all but not continously so is it going to be a broken cable for sure? And if its what cable to do i get ( part number or something) and where can i get it on ebay? An example of what i need would help a lot.

    Thanks

What LCD do you have (WXGA or WSXGA+)? Also do you have a web cam?

If webcam, WXGA, then DD0QT6LC800 or DD0QT6LC110 or HUADDC14012.

    If webcam WSXGA+, then 484367-001 or DDC14009JD253 or ZYEDDCB003CMD017

I'm having the same problem as you are. I'm right in the middle of disassembling the screen, but I can't figure out how to remove the display enclosure. The manual says to slide it to the top and lift, but it's not working.

I think it's possible that your cable is fine. All you need to do is re-seat them and see if it fixes the problem.

What part of the display you mean? ie. what page on the manual :p Searching for "slide" on that manual gives 0 results regarding display...

Yea, ctrl-f and "sliding" would have found that but I didn't think it last night :D

I replaced a broken LCD on my friends dv5 and I don't remember the back cover making any problems. However I think if I just unscrewed the LCD from the hinges without taking the whole display apart.
