Hi,
I have purchased dv6500z. Just started using it. This is my first laptop purchased for my presonal use. I have following issues:-
1. I am not able to create restoration discs.
2. I am hearing loud fan noise. Fan stays running for most of the time.
I never felt the fan noise in my company laptop which has pentium processor.
Any help?

Why can't you create resoration discs? An error?
As far as loud fan noise and fan running most of the time, you might check Hp's web site and see if your BIOS is up to date. They seem to have been releasing updates that address the algorithm that controls when and how often the fan comes on. Loudness could be a bad fan or if you operate in an unusually dusty environment, it could be dirty already and needs the dust removed. Can hardly hear my fan. Of course you maybe have better hearing than I do! ;-) -
Hi,
Thanks for youre reply. While creating disc 1, it is able to finish first 2 tasks(colleecting files and writing). It got strck at 0% while doing the third task i.e., validationg/verifying. Any idea.
My bios version/date is HP F.25,11/29/2007.
I have purchased the laptop with the following specs:-

HP Imprint Finish (Radiance) + Fingerprint Reader + Webcam + Microphone
802.11b/g WLAN
160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support

HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope
I paid $706 plus tax in TX. When i tried to cancel it, i am able to get $75 creadit from hp support. I decided to keep this laptop and stopped looking at other alternatives. -
Back in the 90's, some optical drives were particular about what discs they would work with. I haven't heard that this is still an issue, but have you been able to successfully burn anything using the type of discs you are trying? If it does normally burn OK, maybe try a different brand or speed of disc.
Seems like I saw some other posts a few months ago, of people having problems making restore discs. Maybe do some searching on the boards here.
F.25 looks to be the latest BIOS.
Good Luck! -
Hi Yock1960,
Thanks for your information. I will try your suggestions. -
Finally i am able to create recovery disks. I have used TDK dvd+r discs. I am not sure why it is failed in first attempt.
Any of you using dv6500z. Would like to hear their feed back about the heat and noise. Mine is getting very hot around left top corner. My office laptop (latitude D610) which has pentium processor with 1gb ram and running with xp is super cool. The irony is it is as good as this hp laptop in terms of performance.
Need help for some issues with my new dv6500z.
