I am thinking about getting HD-DVD player on dv6500t notebook but not sure if it is worth the the money. With the 30% off coupon from HP website, I can get a dv6500t with T7500 processor, 2 GB ram, Nvidia graphic card, Hd-DVD rom, fingerprint reader, 160 GB HDD, 12 cell battery for $1157.09.
Can anyone with HD-DVD rom in their system let me know how is it working for you and how is the quality when playing HD_DVD movies on HDTV with 1080p resolution.
    Thanks in advance.

For current price, I just don't see the point of HD DVD on the laptop. You can get a standalone Toshiba player for abt $230 (1080i) or $3xx (1080p) from Amazon with much more functionality and controls and chance for firmware updates to stay up-to-date. Not to mention the 5 free HD-DVDs you get with that.

its ok as a HD player but not very good as a dvd writer since it only does 4x writing. it is also sometimes a pain to play HD-DVD movies cuz of the all the certified hardware HDCP compliant crap you need to run them, basically if you install an uncertified driver, you may not get your movie to run

Thanks for the input. I was thinking the same thing.
I should just save some money and get a standalone player.
    Thanks.
