Ok, I have a pretty difficult problem that I can't seem to fix. I have an HP Envy 14 that has a broken LCD, I had to reinstall windows 7 on the laptop. I used my Gateway laptop with the HP Envy hard drive in it to install Windows 7. But with a clean version of Windows 7 installed I'm not able to use my external monitor with HDMI because apparently Windows won't use the HDMI without the ATI driver. How do I install either the ATI driver without the ability to use a monitor, or is their a way to force Windows to see the HDMI. I need some suggestions on how to get my laptop working at least with an external monitor until I can get my LCD fixed.
Thanks!

What kind of GPU does your gateway have? If ATI, throw the HDD into it, install ATI drivers and put back into your Envy.

Unfortunately it has an Intel GMA.

OK. I think I know a workaround:
Put the HDD into your Gateway.
Install RealVNC server. Disable the firewall, just in case.
Pop the HDD back into the Envy and boot up.
Connect to the Envy with RealVNC client.
Install the HP drivers. This *should* work.
The reason for RealVNC is that it just translates the console session over TCP/IP. Using remote desktop would use a terminal server session which may not play nice with installing drivers and you need Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate.
Need help with a major problem with my Envy 14
