    Need help with lid problem Presario 700

    I have a Compaq Presario 700 that the hinges are loose, and because of that the lid doesn't stay up.
    Is there any other thing to use as a support.
    Also, Is compaq doing anything about it, besides telling us that why you bought it?
    Any one knows of a place to repair this in a decent price.
    Please help.

    Wow, thats an old notebook. Athlon4?
    I had a 715us that I really liked, be it not for the excess heat. Nice notebook for the price though.

    As for repair, the only one with an answer to this question would be HP themselves. It is an old notebook that couldn't possibly have an extended warranty left, but its worth a shot. Call them up.

    You may have better luck trying eBay. I'm sure you're gonna get a better deal since HP doesn't sell just the hinges. You actually have to buy the entire LCD and all parts in it (includes the hinges). I've serviced Compaq systems before and that's their way of repairing anithing that has to do with the LCD.
