    Hey everyone,
I'm new to this forum and in fact this is my first post. I have an HP dv9000z and so far its been great. My only problem so far is that my HP ExpressCard Remote Control seems to not be working. I also have a tv tuner with the other controller, which comes with an IR receiver. Whenever I press the volume button on the HP card(not the tv tuner controller) or any button for that matter, I see the LED light in the receiver light up, but the laptop doesn't respond. Has anyone had an issue like this one? I tried using the search function on this forum and I didn't find anything about it. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

My dv9000z should be here soon. I will test this when I receive it and let us know.

Maybe you can explain something to me... How does the expresscard tuner hook into your cable system? If I understood you correctly, did you say you got 2 remotes? And what's the ir Blaster for? Why do I need that when the dv9000z has a built-in ir receiver?

the tuner comes with cables and other things needed for hookup with cable or satellite boxes. I do have 2 remotes. One is the HP ExpressCard remote and the other one is the Media Center remote that comes with the tv tuner. The reason it comes with the other IR receiver is because you can program the controller to control your tv/cable box, and not just the laptop. I use mines because half of the time i use my laptop, it is on the expansion base xb3000 and the position that it's on blocks the IR receiver on the computer.
But like i said before, my problem is with the HP remote because for some reason my laptop won't respond to it, but it responds to the Media Center remote.

There was someone else who was having a similar problem to yours. As
I recall the only advice he got was "make sure you put in batteries."

My remote worked right out of the box. I haven't used it very much, so I'm not sure about all of the functionality. What are you trying to control with the remote? I used mine while watching a DVD through media player to adjust the volume and such. I'm not sure if it works on any other programs or for other functions. Have you verified that the remote should be working for what you want it to? Have you tried using it while watching a DVD in Media Center?

Maybe you have a bad remote (with a good battery from the sounds of it)?

Well, during the time it stopped working, did you update the bios at that time? I have had a few problems with my Hp since that. I am waiting for the vista upgrade disc and I believe that is why. Hopefully it will be fixed then. But that might be your problem?
Also, I have the tuner as well and was told not to get the tuner and express remote because they would not work together for some reason. but you also mention that it worked at one time....so I'm not sure but its a couple guesses.

    hey guys,
thanks for the replies. I've been busy with work. I tried doing the system recovery one last time and out of no where the remote started working again, so i cancelled the recovery. It worked fine up until 2 days ago. This is beginning to piss me off a bit. I use the controller to scroll down pages of notes that i take and for other stuff as well. I use the tuner control when the laptop is on its expansion base. I really hope that it is not the IR receiver on the laptop.
